The original intent of our annual retreats was to ensure focused time in our
gardens which would be available for the Master Herbalist students who live our
of state ... or who are local but unable to enjoy leisure time with the Devas.
We also wanted it to be open to Grove Members and others. Here are the dates
so those wishing to attend might begin planning.

Tentative topics include:
The Challenges of the Herbalist in the Retail Market - Kathi DeAnda
I was thinking of covering what we can and cannot say to keep in compliance with FDA rules, the education of people who come to us with no experience using herbal medicines, the marketing fads and magic bullets that people often fall for (i.e. if it was on the Oprah show it MUST work!) etc.
Zoopharmacogncy - Christina Cline
Watching animals select the plants they eat and what we can learn from this. Christina also works with herbs and animals and has treated horses with herbal remedies.
The Life of Owning An Herb Shop - Charlotte Branca
My experience as an herbal business owner. The road to success and pitfalls to avoid.
Past and Current Trials and Tribulations of Herbal Medicine - Lisa Cheadle
I have found some interesting things about medicines used in the past that I thought others studying herbal medicine would find interesting. I might share these. Also, I was thinking I would say something about the challenges we face as herbalists today, especially in this country
